• "Haldir son of Halmir was lord of the Haladin or the Men of Brethil. Glóredhel was daughter of Hador Lórindol, lord of Dor-Lómin. She was wedded to Haldir of Brethil during a great feast at the same time as her brother Galdor married Haldir's sister Hareth. Haldir and Glóredhel lived in the town of Obel Halad on the hill Amon Obel afterwards.

There was great love between them and they had one son named Handir. As a son-in-law of Hador, Haldir fostered Hareth's sons Huor and Húrin in Brethil, as was the custom of the Edain in those times.

After his father prepared the Folk of Brethil to join the Union of Maedhros, Haldir obeyed the summons of Fingon, and with Hundar his brother he led many warriors to the Nírnaeth Arnoediad and joined the forces of Húrin, now Lord of Dor-lómin. Haldir was slain with most of his men in the rearguard of Fingon's retreating army. To Brethil only three men returned, and learning the news of the fall of her husband, Glóredhel died of grief.

The Folk of Haleth was ruled afterwards by their son Handir, whose son was Brandir the Lame."

• If you are lost in all the names, read Tolkien's Silmarillion. :-) Haldir and Glóredhel are among many interesting characters. Though they do not play main part in any of the great stories, they are connected to many other famous characters and they themselves are worth commemorating. I do not know if they were ever drawn, possibly I'm the first=D. If you try to find Haldir anywhere, you get only piles of pictures of a certain elf from Lothlórien or of a certain actor who played him. So just to make things clear: This is a different Haldir. ;-)
