Nereb

Nereb on Berenin käyttämä salanimi. Leithianin laulussa kerrotaan,[1] että Thû (joka myöhemmissä kertomuksissa tunnettiin nimellä Sauron) komensi örkeiksi naamioituneet Berenin ja Felagundin eteensä Velhon saarelle[2] ja kysyi näiden nimiä. Hän sai vastaukseksi Nereb ja Dungalef, jotka kieltämättä kuulostavat örkkimäisiltä. Thû ei myöskään tunnistanut miehiä nimien perusteella.[3].
